Pleased to Meet You!

Welcome to our blog! I guess we'd better start with introductions...

Hi, I'm Laura! A twenty-two year old daydreamer, amateur storyteller, and Harry Potter enthusiast.

You could say that I've always had a love affair with words. I wrote my first short story at age 7 (The Fairy Shoe--look for it at bookstores near you! Or don't, if you don't want to waste your time) and haven't stopped writing since.

Whenever an adult would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I proudly answered: "A writer!"
I'd smile a toothy grin at them, and they'd pat me on the head.
"You can be whatever you want to be," they'd reply.

Of course no one mentioned that becoming a novelist is a pretty lofty ambition, and that only the really successful ones make comfortable livings. And living does actually cost money, it turns out!

After a whole lot of mucking about, I finally found my way into the Individualized Studies program at my university. This allowed me to create the kind of major I could be truly passionate about: one that combined my love of writing with a more practical application. I graduated this spring with a Bachelor of Arts focused on marketing and creative writing. Essentially, my personalized version of a
communications degree.

Now I'm entering a whole other chapter of my life, one that I'm bound to bumble through a bit. But now I know where I want to be--I just need to get there. In the meantime, I'm enjoying my funemployment by tending to my plants, learning photoshop, and making this blog with my culinary-genius best friend, Emily!

I hope to document my silly DIY attempts, things I'm excited about (like music and design), and maybe share a little writing now and then.

It's a crazy time in our lives, and things are moving fast. Why not come along?

See you here,

Hi, I'm Emily – food lover, craft maker, continental explorer, twenty-two year old who just graduated from culinary school.

My best friend Laura and I are both entering the post-graduate world and would like to share our crazy adventures with you and the various mishaps we endure. There are many so even if you get nothing else out of this blog, you'll be sure to leave with a laugh or two.

I spend the majority of my time in a kitchen and the rest of the time I'm probably sleeping. I will share with you my culinary findings, whether it be recipes to try or food that I've swooned over. When I'm not cooking or sleeping, I'm hanging out with Laura doing what 2 cool twenty-somethings would normally be doing; crafting. We usually have monthy, what we call “crafternoons”, where we put our creative skills to the test and try the season's latest DIY.

Sometimes we are left just drooling over Martha
Stewart's website, but nonetheless we will share our successes and failures with you.

I have also been known to jump on a plane or two and explore the world. I have travelled around Europe three times and have been to New York, Mexico, Cuba, to name a few. I know the ins and outs of backpacking through Europe and will gladly share some travel advice with those willing to take it! So hold on for the blogging ride of your life because its bound to be a bumpy but entertaining one to say the least! Thanks for reading!
